Chaumont in France yearly hosts a major poster festival, which turns out to be one of the most inspiring design events I've ever been to. In 2009 as a MA student I joined their workshop along a bunch of cool kids from all over and the task was to design an A1 poster with low-tech tools only plus a photocopier. The design brief was 'Being 20' and my visual solution was simple yet inherent to youngsters on that age: the overwhelming sensation of decision making on big subjects in life, without much clue on where to go. My tutors from Flag / Zurich were superb and as my design process is very computer-based, the workshop was quite challenging. And I was lucky to be awarded a second place afterwards. |
